Our Networks 2024

Our Networks is a volunteer-run conference about the past, present, and future of building our own network infrastructures. The event hosts keynotes, talks, and hands-on sessions on topics including: decentralized systems, peer-to-peer web, community networks, and new network communication and storage protocols. There have been 5 previous editions either online or in Toronto since 2017, but this year the organizing team wants to bring it to Vancouver in July!

We are in the early stages of planning the event, which is done relatively openly by a small collective. You can see previous years' (e.g. 2020 on github: https://github.com/ournetworks/.

2024 Details

• 1-day, single-track in-person event with invited speakers and workshop hosts, an outdoor component, and offsite after party.
• Location: Vancouver
• Date: Preferred Saturday July 27, 2024 (July 26-28 weekend)

Expect a public announcement in March with more details! In the meantime you can subscribe to our mailing list.

2024 Asks

For 2024 we are currently looking for the following:

• Venue
  • Capacity: 80-100
  • Single room okay, side spaces for hallway conversations strongly preferred
  • Accessible (no steps) entrance and washrooms preferred. Otherwise accessibility walk-through
  • Only planned catering for coffee breaks
  • 9:00 AM - 6:30 PM outer window for access, flexible here
  • Load-in previous day preferred
  • Load-out same evening potentially
• Grant leads
