Getting tired of technoptimism and the idea that status, power, and making money is the goal of everything? Not trying to "raise" or "pitch"? Join us for a real human relaxing convening in a lovely Vancouver setting.
atproto websummit vancouver meetup

DwebYVR Field Trip to Elphinstone Farm
On Saturday, May 16th, Come hang out and learn for a day with techy and farmy nerds at the beautiful Elphinstone farm in Gibson's. A recently adopted asset, this nascent farm is set to become a home and hub for dweb* x agricultural tech in the Sunshine Coast with workshops around mesh networking, wetland agriculture, iNaturalist, a tour of the sorroundings and more.
Folk Tech x Protopian Prize - Storytelling Workshop
Happening on Wednesday, May 20th at 9:30am
Folk Tech is a solidarity-based movement among designers, developers, and people in communities who want digital technology that supports their daily life and interdependence without the extraction, exploitation, or surveillance found in most proprietary technology today.
The Protopian Prize is a fiction contest that asks what we can envision as people working toward liberatory futures, meeting obstacles, and making real change. “Protopian” means an achievable, optimistic future characterized by continuous, incremental progress rather than revolutionary leaps or a static, perfect state. Protopian stories imagine a future that is neither flawless nor catastrophic, but instead workably better than today. It’s about plausible progress rather than perfection or collapse.
Common Space Kick Off
On Thursday, May 21st at 6pm, join us if you are interested in exploring shared spaces and collaborative ownership in Vancouver and beyond.
Z-Space and the CoFood Garden have been amazing spaces that are part of the larger “federation” of people and projects around DWebYVR. Members of Z-Space host DWeb events, Emily gathers people at the CoFood garden, mesh devices get permanently installed, and various computers host servers. We rely on the sustainability of those spaces to exist so we can gather and experiment together.
Join us for the kick-off meeting, share your needs and interests, and start working on the Common Space project.
DWebYVR Writing Club
Our semi-regular DwebYVR writing club is coming back Sunday, May 24th at 10am. Join us for a two hour writing session to work on all those writing projects that never get the time they deserve!

On Sunday, May 24th at 12pm, join us for a day of learning, installing, and sharing.
All about automation systems like OpenClaw, with a focus on using local compute and local AI models. Have you been experimenting with systems like OpenClaw?
